My little princess Xin Lin fell facing down while walking at home around a week ago. Initially I wasn't too worried as falls are common for her and she will normally cry. But this time round, her crying seemed to be a little louder and I went to pick her up. When I turned her around, I got a shock as she got a very big bump (as big as a small strawberry) at the side of her forehead. The bump was very close to her eyes and we quickly applied some ice on her bump to bring down the swelling. She was struggling and crying pitifully but we had no choice. After 10 - 15 minutes, the swelling reduced and we able to take a closer look at the damage done. She has a bruise near her eye with some abrasion by the side. As she seemed normal and doing fine, we decided to monitor before taking any further action.

My little 'One Eye Panda'
Somehow, I couldn't sleep very well that night and instinctively at around 5am plus, I reached over to touch Xin Lin's forehead (a habit I developed after having my babies). She was having a low fever but that already got me worried as I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with the fall. Not wanting to take any chances, we rushed her to KKH A&E. After 2 hours of waiting and an X-ray later, we were given the 'all-clear' by the doctor but told to monitor her just in case.
The bruise has moved towards her eye and is now covering the whole of her right eye, making her a little 'Orh Bak Kak'. When we bring her out, people will stare at her but Xin Lin is oblivious to all the stares and instead greet some of the strangers by waving her hand and giving a big smile. I think some people thought that it's a birth mark but one auntie whom we met at the hawker centre pity her and ask her if it was painful. But Xin Lin show no sign of pain, other than coughing which started almost immediately after her fall. Coincidental and baffling. It will definitely take a while before my little girl can be bruise-free and regain her adorable face. Till then, we'll just have to ignore all the stares when we bring Xin Lin out :P
