This post is more than 1 week late, but better late than never? Hee! Having just recovered from flu and fever myself and taking care of Xin Lin for the past few days, I now finally found the time and mood to update this blog. Xin Rui is now with my MIL as she also had fever and we didn't want both the girls to continue to spread the germs to each other and not get well, hence the long heart wrenching separation from her for the past week.
According to my MIL, she has been crying for me all the time, pointing to the door and wanting to go home. She will also hold on to her bag, as if wanting to bring it home with her. I almost cried when I heard it and wished that I can comfort her in my arms. What a bad mother I must have been to her. Not being there for her when she's sick and needs my comfort the most. When I finally went to see her, she looked stoned and didn't even managed to smile cos she was still sick. But her arms spread out to me and I carried her. She lost some weight because she hardly ate throughout the week and you can see her cheeks had sunken a little and her chin even more pointed than before. It pained me to see her in this condition and all I could do was carry her.
She looks different to me after just a week. It seems like she has grown taller. My hubby thought the same too. It's amazing how my gal can look different and grow in just a week. It's cliche, but it truly seems like yesterday when I first lay my eyes on Xin Rui and hold her in the delivery suite. Can't believe that she is almost 2 years old and she already has a younger sister. And I am a mother of 2 before the age of 33 yrs old. I joked to my hubby that time seems to fly so fast, our gals will be going to primary school soon and before you know it, they will graduate and be independent and there will be the 2 of us, just like before and we can retire and shake our legs. Hahaha!

Anyway, to update on Xin Rui. She's now 23 months old and able to sing and hum the entire song of the popular Taiwan TV drama series 'Ai'. Though she can speak very well, she can express herself better and point to things or put your hand on a bottle to ask you to open it. She knows where we hide her alphabet magnets and will point and keep saying 'ABC' till you get them for her. We kept it cos she keeps putting the magnets (about the size of a 50 cent coin) into her mouth. And we were scared tat she might accidentally swallow and choke on them.
Xin Rui definitely can understand us much better and she's definitely jealous of Xin Lin. She will snatch the toys that we give to Xin Lin and play them herself. If she does not want to play with them, she will just snatch the toys and pass them to us. Hahah! There was once when both of them wanted to play the same toy, and I will ask Xin Rui to share with Xin Lin. Xin Rui looked at me and then at her toy and decided that she doesn't want to let go of her toy and yet she wants to be a good gal and listen to me. So she went to get another toy for Xin Lin instead. That cracked me up and I had to laugh. Xin Rui laughed with me as I praised her for giving her sister another toy, though not the one she's holding. Hahaha! Fortunately, Xin Lin is still young and she's easily contented most of the time, well, for now, at least. :P
Sigh, I think I can look forward to more sibling rivalry in future :P
