My little Princess Xin Rui is now 21 months old and she's getting naughtier and naughtier everyday. Sigh... She is a stubborn little cow and will refuse to hold your hand when walking down the stairs, corridor and even in the carpark, which is very dangerous. There are many days when she will refuse to budge when we bring her up to the babysitter's place and go back home. She will just stand in the corridor and look at you. In the end, I have to think of ways to 'lure' her to walk to the babysitter's house or home. Sometimes, I just squat down and hold out my arms to signal that I want to hug her and she will run happily towards me and hug me. When that fails, I will either dangle my keys or itouch in front of her and she will run towards me, or rather, my key or itouch. On days, when I do not have time to do that, I will just carry her and she will cry all the way home or to the babysitter's place. Sigh. Sometimes I wonder if it's because I'm not by her side all the time to discipline her, so she ended up being so stubborn and bad-tempered. Or maybe she just inherited her parents' genes. Hee!
But when she's an angel, she will willingly hold your hand and give you her sweetest smile and you will melt and forget she was a devil in disguise. Hahaha!
Xin Rui is also beginning to start to sing along whenever I played the nursery rhymes or children song every weekend morning. Her favourite is ABC Song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Ten Little Indian Boys. She can already sing up from A...B...C........up to G...sometimes, she can sing up to K. As for Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, she can sing bits of it. For Ten Little Indian Boys, she will only sing the last word 'Boy' very loudly. Hahaha! I wonder when she'll be able to sing the whole song.
One funny thing is that it took me almost 30 over years to realise that the ABC Song and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star has the exact same melody. And it also took me that long to realise that the Chinese children song 'Liang3 Zhi1 Lao2 Hu3' has a English version. Hahaha! I guess I will never realise all these if not for my daughters. Hee!
Xin Rui can definitely understand most of the things we say and she can sense our emotions, eg, when I'm angry or upset. There was once I was so agitated cos I was not feeling well and Xin Rui was creating a mess, pouring out the water from her water bottle and climbing up and down. I got very angry and slam the safety gate (well, actually it's already loud when you swing it shut, haa) I did not scold nor look at Xin Rui for I was scared that I might hit her and regret it later. Instead, I just sit in the bedroom and ignore her. Xin Rui knew I was upset with her and she peered from the side of my shoulder and look innocently at me. When I continued to ignore her, she sit on my lap and leaned forward to look at me and blabber something softly, as if comforting me and asking me not to be angry. That's when I could no longer be angry with her and hug her instead. I must have owe her something in my previous life. Sigh...
