Just yesterday, my hubby and I went to Thomson Medical Centre for the OSCAR test to test if Moo Moo got Down Syndrome. When I went there, the nurse told me that I need a full bladder in order to do the test. So I drank a lot of water. Little did I know that the wait is an hour long, so my bladder was killing me by the time I went into the room for my ultrasound. Later, I found out that they need a full bladder in order to see the foetus more clearly and I thought that they just want my urine sample. Haha! Well, it turned out that my bladder was too full and compressing Moo Moo, so couldn't really see too clearly. So off I went to the loo and it was a tremendous relief!
When I came back, I could see Moo Moo for the second time. My oh my! How it has grown from 2.81cm to 7cm in just 1 month. Moo Moo was practically bouncing and jumping inside me. Haha. That was so cute. I was lucky that Moo Moo was in a good position and I did not have to do a rescan. I saw a lady walking around the hospital cos they couldnt see the baby clearly. So they made her walk around in hope of the baby shifting its position for a better view. We were even able to see its tiny feet and hands! Fortunately, everything seems fine for Moo Moo's head and neck size. I was told a few millimetres makes a lot of difference.
Moo Moo at the end of my 1st trimester - measuring 7cm long!
Look how much Moo Moo has grown in just one month!
My bill for the test at Thomson Medical Centre
Then I went for my blood test and that was it. The whole test cost me a little over $300. Thank goodness the government just announced that they have increased the baby bonus to $4000 and more tax rebates wef next year. The maternity leave has also increased from 3 months to 4 months and there were other little perks too! Wow, Moo Moo's arrival is really timely. Moo Moo is really a lucky baby!
Later in the afternoon, we went to see our gynae for our first proper checkup. I had to take the urine test to test for blood glucose, then take my weight followed by measuring my blood pressure to make sure everything is alright. And we get to hear Moo Moo's heartbeat again. It was loud and fast as the first time we heard it. Seems like everything is normal for Moo Moo's development. As usual, my gynae cracked some jokes but my hubby and I just couldn't really understand them. Haha!
DHA
Multi-vitamins
We had to pay over $600 for the package and pills. Yes...more pills to pop. One multi-vitamin, one DHA and more utrogestan to last till my 16th week of pregnancy. Sigh...I heard that I might have to take the multi-vitamins and DHA throughout my whole pregnancy...Arghh....Moo Moo, see Mummy has to pop so many pills for you everyday. You better give me a smooth delivery. Haha!
