Mooz & Stripes: Xin Lin Can Climb Stairs!

My little Xin Lin recently became even more adventurous and wants to climb stairs. She is no longer contented to be carried home from the babysitter's place every evening. She will wriggle and try to come down but because she's normally not wearing any shoes, I will not let her feet touch the ground. But when we go out, I will let her wear her pretty pink shoes and allow her to walk on her own to explore in places deemed safe by us. She will walk out of our house with some assistance as we have two steps just outside our door. Then she will quickly make her way down the corridor before we even have time to lock our door. This is because she knows that we will try to catch up with her and slow her down in case she fell and hurt herself.

Nowadays, she will attempt to climb the stairs just like her sister, which is just as well because we have been trying to tell Xin Rui that we will no longer carry her since she's able to walk on her own and sometimes she will still try her luck when she sees us carry Xin Lin. I am usually quite firm and refused to give in to her unless we are somewhere dangerous, like in the middle of the traffic. Then she will turn to my hubby and recently my mum to try her luck. My mum is soft-hearted and tends to give in but I will normally ask my mum to ignore her and stay with Xin Rui on that particular spot till she gives up and hold my hand and walk.

However, the down side is that now that Xin Rui is so used to the idea that we cannot carry her whenever we go out, she thinks that it should be applied to her little sister Xin Lin as well. So when it comes to climbing up and down the stairs, Xin Rui will make noise when she sees us carry Xin Lin and insisted that Xin Lin should walk like her. So now that Xin Lin is attempting to climb the stairs, it saves us the trouble to pacify Xin Rui.

Though Xin Lin is unable to climb the stairs on her own, she is trying her best to hold on to the rail and move up the steps. I'm sure I will see her climbing up and down the stairs in no time at this rate! :)
